Our Erasmus Project will involve or pupils researching about three important issues:
Year One – European History. How Europe changed during the 20th Century. How World War Two affected our countries. Why immigration took place during World War Two (for example, Jewish refugees).
Year Two – Modern Day Immigration. How conflict can result in migration (for example, Syrian refugees) How our localities have been affected by immigration. What are the important aspects and benefits of immigration. How refugee children’s lives compare to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Year Three – Environmental Change in Europe. What can we do to look after our local and global environments. Study important European and World environmental issues.
Pupils from all schools will collaborate on various end-products for the project. At the end of Year One the pupils will focus on the creation of an inter-school Peace Charter. The end-product for Year Two will be the creation of School Welcome Booklets that will be distributed to new pupils, including refugee and migrant pupils. In Year Three a collaborative environmental magazine will be produced.
Throughout the project school will share good practice in teaching and learning.
During Year One there will be a focus on numeracy. The Polish school will take a lead role in sharing how ICT can be used effectively in the teaching of numeracy.
During Year Two, the Greek school will take a lead role in sharing effective strategies for teaching refugee children and immigrant pupils.
During Year Three, the Spanish school will lead on the scientific approach to teaching.
